In the month of June, “O” magazine published an article on Oprah’s new home in Kula. Since then, we have seen pretty good activity in the Kula real estate market. Could we be seeing an Oprah effect? It is hard to say, but it is easy to see why people are attracted to the Kula area. It is not the palm lined beaches or waterfalls that many island visitors would expect of Maui. Nestled on the arid slopes of Haleakala, the community boasts a rural setting, an ideal climate, spectacular views and is close to some of Maui’s best schools.

It is also Maui’s bread basket. There are a variety of small farms growing vegetable, flowers and herbs. Small Agribusinesses like Ali’i Kula Lavendar Farm and the Surfing Goat Dairy. It even has a small vineyard. Perhaps that is why some have compared Kula to Napa Valley thirty years ago. If this community sounds appealing, check out all of the current real estate listings in Kula on MauiRealEstate.com.
