The 26th annual Hawaii International Film Festival is making its way to Maui this week. The festival which is based on Oahu makes a point to bring films to all of the Hawaiian Islands. The festival will be stopping in Maui at the Maui Mall in Kahului. It starts tomorrow night with an opening reception running from 6:00PM-7:00. Films are to follow at 7:00 and 9:30. The films follow the same schedule on Tuesday through Thursday. The selection of films are from countries throughout the Pacific rim and Asia including Japan, New Zealand, Vietnam, Korea, China, the Philipines, Mexico and the U.S. This is a great opportunity to take in a diverse array of films that are not likely to make it to the local silver screen otherwise.
If you are in Paia this afternoon, the Sutrov Gallery is hosting an opening reception for a new exhibit featuring Terry Wynne and Maggie Sutrov. The Sutrov Gallery is located in the Paia General Store complex next to Indigo Paia and the Wine Corner. The reception will run from 4:00-7:00PM.
