Wailuku

Wailuku is Central Maui's civic and medical epicenter

Wailuku does a good job of balancing convenience and quality of life. Wailuku also has an incredibly diverse housing market. It is home to some of the oldest homes on Maui around downtown and Sandhills, and it has more new or newer construction than anywhere else on the island in the Kehalani planned community. You might find some of the smallest lots near downtown, but there are neighborhoods like Wailuku Country Estates, more rural parts of Waihee, and parts of Waikapu where you can find acreage.

Kahului

Convenience and comfort in Kahului

Kahului is the shopping epicenter of Maui. It is home to big box stores, two malls, and numerous other stores. From a housing standpoint, it was shaped by two large, planned communities. The first, called Dream City, was one of the first planned communities West of the Mississippi. Built in increments, the development first came to market in the early ‘50s. Maui Lani is a much more recent planned community. It started in the mid-late 90s, with new neighborhoods being built within the last few years. It also includes a golf course and commercial property.

Kahakuloa

Big views in rural Central Maui

Located about 20 minutes drive North of downtown Wailuku are the subdivisions of Maluhia Country Ranches and the Cliffs at Kahakuloa. These agriculturally zoned subdivisions, and the properties close by offer the best combination of views and acreage for the dollar in Maui. Perched on the East flank of the West Maui Mountains, they have big views of sunrises, Haleakala, Kahului Harbor, and the North Shore coastline.
