A star studded and well received Maui Film Festival is coming to a close today. There are lots of activities on tap. Highlights include the Sand Sculpture contest on Wailea Beach, the Fathers day concert, Celestial Cinema and the Starz Audience Awards and Celestial Dance Party. The Sand Sculpture contest started at 9:00 am on Wailea Beach. It will be running throughout the day and will run through 1:00 PM. The sculptures tend to be a bit more outrageous than your average sand castle. The Father’s Day Concert will be held at the Diamond Resort’s sunset lawn starting at 5:00 PM. John Cruz will be bringing his island sounds to the families. The Celestial Cinema will feature 3 movies tonight with “All Aboard the Crazy Train”, “The Thing about My Folks and “Grizzly Man”. “All Aboard the Crazy Train” is expected to draw particularly large crowds as it features Maui’s own Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama during the big winter swells of the 2004/2005 season at Jaws. The festival will wrap up withthe Starz Audience Awards and Cosmic Dance Party held at Bamboo Chi. The party will feature the music of Raga Rock, light pupus and a Bacardi Bar.
