I thought this picture by Billy’s Wife Carla was appropriate with Fourth of July festivities around the corner. This shot shows two horses in the Upcountry of Maui with the rugged Makena coastline in the distance.
Upcountry Maui is cowboy country or more appropriately paniolo country. The fourth of July is a time where the area’s Cowboy Culture is celebrated. Makawao hosts its annual rodeo around this time of year. The event draws participants from all over the state and spectators from all over the island both for the rodeo and the fourth of July parade through downtown.
