Paia News and Notes

Happy Halloween from beautiful Paia town on Maui’s North Shore. I thought I would chime in today with a few news and notes on our great little community.

Halloween is becoming a big event in Paia. Last year, Lahaina downplayed its traditional holiday Halloween extravaganza and Paia stepped in to fill some of the void. There were plenty of fun events for kids and adults. Here is a schedule of this year’s events.

All weekend, drop off donations for Maui Food Bank at Indigo, Mana, Tamara Catz, Sand and Sea, and Thee Salon…

5-7 pm: All of Paia’s businesses are offering candy and treats for trick or treating
5-close: Entertainment and Treats at Mana in coordination with their 25th anniversary
6-close: Most of Paia’s restaurants offer fun specials and Halloween themes

6-close: Halloween Karaoke and costume contest at Cafe Mambo
10-2 Dan De Lion and the Kryptones at Charlies with costume contest
10-2 DJ at Jacques with costume contest

This should be a great event for all. We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween in Paia town.

If you are meandering around town doing some trick or treating tonight. You may notice that there are some new businesses in town. Wings Hawaii has moved their retail shop from their old location at the Pauwela Cannery in Haiku to a new location on Baldwin Avenue next to Moana Cafe. The girls produce and design clothing and jewelry locally here on Maui. Mention my name and you can get 15% off your next purchase at the store. Maui Cyclery has also made the move down from Haiku to Paia. This full service bike shop offers all that you need for road and mountain biking around the Valley Isle.

The Paia Tatoo Boutique and Gallery has opened its doors in the last month right next to Jacques restaurant. Even if you are not in the need for a new tattoo, it is worth stopping in to see the artwork on display. Last but not least, Paia Yoga recently opened its doors on the East edge of town on Hana Highway. I have heard great early reviews on their teachers.

Speaking of Paia Merchants, we want to extend our congratulations to one of the anchors of the Paia community. Mana Foods is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week. This great little health food store has gained fans not only all over Maui, but among island visitors as well. To celebrate the milestone, Mana has been holding events all week. We also want to thank them for having a barbecue that benefited our favorite local charity, the Paia Youth and Cultural Center.

While the Paia retail scene has been picking up, we are also seeing some signs of life in the local real estate market. We have put three of our Paia listings under contract within the last month. All three have been higher end properties with two in the Spreckelsville area and one on the ocean. Paia offers great shops, restaurants and events. Add in its proximity to world class water sports and you can see why this community remains a draw to buyers in a slower real estate market. Check out MauiRealEstate.com for the current Paia Real Estate listings or contact us for additional information or direct assistance.
