Its another beautiful day on Maui and a big day at the Maui Film Festival . Steady trade winds and sunny skies are in the forecast. Today’s events start early and run late. Here are today’s highlights.
- The Film Festival provides an opportunity to learn more from the directors and producers of some of the movies featured in this year’s festival. There are three film makers panels hosted today at the Wailea Marriot. The first panel starts to at 11:30 with a discussion on green messages in films. The second panel at 12:45 looks at how Woodstock and The Summer of Love was and still is an important subject and influence on film makers. The last panel starts at 2:00 PM and it will be a discussion about the relationships that form between film maker and subject in documentary films.
- The Film Festival is always anticipated for its fine movies and of course its fine foods. The culinary highlight is the Taste of Wailea. The event includes food prepared by chefs from restaurants and resorts from throughout Wailea including Capishce?, Duo, Spago, Ruth’s Chris, Ko, Nick’s Fish Market, Mala Wailea and more. This event starts at 4:30 PM just below the site for the Celestial Cinema. If you waited to by tickets this year, unfortunately the event has sold out!
- The Celestial Cinema has three great films scheduled for this evening. The movies start at 8:00 with Paper Heart. This is followed by Yousou N’dour: I Bring What I Love at 9:30 and Lightbulb at 11:00. As always, you are welcome to come early and bring a picnic. If you are planning to stay for the later films, it is always good to bring some warmer clothes. It gets surprisingly cool up on the golf course.
