Are Vacation Rentals Allowed at Grand Champions?
This is an apartment-zoned development that currently allows vacation rentals through a county ordinance. The County of Maui recently passed Bill 9, a new law that will sunset vacation rentals with Apartment Zoning. As things stand, vacation rentals will sunset for short-term rentals on January 1, 2031.
However, the new law is being challenged in the courts. Additionally, the Maui County Council just referred a bill to the Planning Commission that would create two new zoning categories, H3 and H4. These new types of hotel zoning would mirror the current A1 and A2 zoning categories with one key difference: the right to short-term rent the condos.
The plan to create the new zoning came out of a report issued by four members of the Maui Council near the end of discussions on Bill 9. That report also included an exhibit listing condos that would be good candidates for the new zoning. Grand Champions was included in the exhibit.
Buyers interested in purchasing Grand Champions Condos for Sale with the intent of doing vacation rentals should do their due diligence.
