Are Vacation Rentals Allowed at Maui Kamaole?
Owners at Maui Kamaole are currently allowed to rent their condos for vacation. It is an apartment-zoned condo on the Minatoya list. That said, the County of Maui recently passed legislation that would sunset vacation rentals in condos with Apartment zoning. Rentals would be prohibited after January 1, 2031.
That said, the law is facing legal challenges. The Maui County Council also recently passed Bill 88. This bill created H3/H4 zoning, a new classification similar to A1/A2 with one key difference: the right to vacation rent. The County Council also started passing resolutions that start the rezoning process for several apartment-zoned condos. Thus far, Maui Kamaole has not been included in any of the resolutions. However, County Council members previously identified it as a prime candidate for the new zoning.
Buyers interested in purchasing a Maui Kamaole Condo for vacation rentals should do additional due dilligence.
