Maui Uplands is one of the more desirable communities in Makawao. The neighborhood’s appeal stems from its spacious lots, community pool, community tennis courts, and convenient location. Originally developed in the 1980s, the subdivision is well established with mature landscaping. The lots are all roughly a half acre in size. Rural 1/2 acre zoning allows for properties to have an ohana up to 700 square feet. Maui Uplands is less than five minutes drive from Makawao town. It is minutes from the grocery stores of Pukalani. Central Maui is 15 minutes from the neighborhood. Baldwin Beach Park in Paia is the closest beach to Maui Uplands at just around a 15 minute drive. King Kekaulike High School, Kalama Intermediate School and Makawao Elementary are all within five minutes of the neighborhood. The subdivision is also a short distance to private schools like Carden Academy, Seabury Hall, Montessori and Haleakala Waldorf.

Most of the recent transactions in this Upcountry neighborhood have sold for $750,000 or more. You may occasionally see a few lower sales for smaller homes or homes with significant deferred maintenance. Due to the desirability of this location, you tend to see a little less turnover in the neighborhood. There have been significant periods over the last few years when there are no active listings.
