North Shore Maui

The North Shore of Maui

Maui North Shore real estate is prized for its location. The North Shore of Maui is one of the premiere wave sport destinations in the world. If you are lucky enough to buy a home in Paia, Haiku, Kuau or Spreckelsville, you have the opportunity to test your mettle with surfing, windsurfing, SUPing, kitesurfing or towsurfing — in your own backyard.

However, there is much more to the North Shore of Maui than waves. The towns of Haiku and Paia are full of charm and character. The area has been a beacon to artists and free spirits for over three decades. It is also an area with tremendous natural beauty. Located at the base of Haleakala, the area has a county feel with lots of farm land.

The climate is quite pleasant due to the area’s consistent cooling trade winds. Tradewinds bring trade showers that keep the foliage lush and tropical and frequently fill the sky with rainbows.

Spreckelsville Real Estate

The area known as Spreckelsville has become a haven for windsurfers and kitesurfers from all over the world. Residents and visitors alike are able to rig and launch on Spreckelsville’s many beaches.

Spreckelsville’s Baby Beach is one of the area’s few beaches that is not frequented by wind surfers. Instead, you will find families frolicking in the placid waters created by the shelter of the reef.

Spreckelsville also features the Maui Golf and Country Club for those who prefer their challenge on the links. Amenities and location make Speckelsville real estate a popular choice for both water sport enthusiasts, golfers, or those who just want beach access in a central island location.

Real Estate in the community ranges from oceanfront estate homes to golf course residences. There are still a handful of vacant lots in the community. Spreckelville is also home to the North Shore’s only beachfront condominiums.

town of Paia

Paia Real Estate

Paia is a small but bustling community. Once an old plantation town for the nearby sugarcane and pineapple fields, Paia had a resurgence in the ’60s and ’70s as artisans and freespirits migrated to the community.

It is rare to find a town of this size that approaches Paia’s quantity, quality and diversity of restaurants. Cuisine types include vegetarian, Indian, Mexican, sushi, Mediterranean, Hawaiian, American — and the best darn fish sandwich on the Islands at the Paia Fish Market.

The town has a number of galleries that sell beautiful locally-produced artwork. While there are numerous surf shops, you’ll also find a number of other small boutiques and specialty shops selling everything from Balinese crafts to hula girls to bikinis.

These amenities and an international cast of characters give Paia a unique atmosphere matched by few towns in Maui or much of the world.

All of these attributes make Paia a popular community to call home. You can find the current Paia Real Estate inventory on MauiRealEstate.com.

Kuau Real Estate

Kuau is another small community with access to world class wave sports. The closest town to the world famous Ho’okipa Beach Park, Kuau’s combination of wind and waves challenge surfers and wind surfers from all over the world.Kuau is also home to Mama’s Fish House, one of the best restaurants in all of Maui.

Kuau’s location, conveniently close to Paia and great watersports, makes it a very desirable community. For a complete list of current Kuau listings, click on the link at the bottom of the page. For more information about Kuau real estate, contact the MauiRealEstate.com team directly.

Haiku Real Estate

Haiku town is the gateway to tropical Maui. Located on the periphery of the rainforest, the area is lush and green year round. Historically, the community has been a focal point for pineapple and sugar cane growing. While pineapple and sugar are no longer grown in any significant quantity on Maui, there are a number of smaller organic farms and pasture areas dotted with livestock.

The agricultural legacy is also evident in the old pineapple canneries, which have been converted to retail space housing everything from grocery stores to yoga studios to great restaurants.

Not to be outdone by other North Shore communities, Haiku is home to Peahi — also known as Jaws. Jaws is quite simply the most spectacular big wave spot in the world. A select few brave this wave when it breaks during the winter.

Haiku’s beautiful scenery and relaxed country setting are a big draw for local residents You can check out the current inventory of Haiku Real Estate listings on MauiRealEstate.com.
